Shower Remodel – Pulling Back the Curtain

When it comes to bringing a house up to date, remodeling the kitchen and the bathroom can make an amazing difference.

Let us focus on the bathroom and in particular the shower remodel. The old fashion showers with the curtain are still in many homes but changing that look into one of today’s more modern showers can be a huge hit.

When possible buyers look at a home, the kitchen and the bathroom rank number one and number two in either making a home look dated or modern.  So let’s get started with turning your old shower into something special.

Remodeling a shower can run the range from a basic shower stall into a full steam sauna. We’ll start with the simplest. If your home has the standard bath with the shower curtain, the easiest makeover is to replace the curtain with a sliding door. This process is actually much easier than you might think.

Most doors are standard sizes that will adjust to fit almost any size. But let’s begin with measuring the distance from the wall at the front of the tub to the wall at the back of the tub just to make sure you have the right model.

If you are looking for something more than your standard shower remodeling then why not take it up a notch? A sauna shower can make a long day at work much better when you have this model to wake up to or come home to at night. Jets of water providing a shower massage are hard to beat.

Keep in mind this is not typically a do it yourself project even for someone with solid handyman skills. Be prepared if you decide on a sauna shower to pay to have it professionally installed. Most models include different settings as to the water pressure and many include a seat for those extra long showers.

Whether you are remodeling your home to put it on the market for sale or you are just trying to improve your home, a shower remodel can be the answer. Start with a budget and then let your best ideas take you from there.

Keep in mind your space limitations as well when you plan out your remodel. Use magazines to get ideas from, look at friends and families recent remodels as well. A little planning and your new shower can be a great addition to your home.
